Quality real food is essential

Quality real food is essential

It's been a long time since I wrote about what we put in our mouths. Today I can only conclude once again that it good lies in the simple as I pointed out earlier. If you only have good ingredients, the food tastes fantastic. Had a piece of cod for lunch, seasoned only with a little salt and white pepper. The fish melted in my mouth and the whole thing made me feel so happy and satisfied.

Now I'm preparing a meat sauce for the evening and it smells good all over the house. A few weekends ago we stocked the freezer with good ingredients. We visited a harvest festival in Dalarna and the produce from there is absolutely magical. It reminds me of when I was a kid and we went out to the island to buy fish directly from the fisherman himself. What we bought depended on what he managed to bring back from the sea.

Or when we bought half a pig or a 1/4 cow directly from the farmer. Then we also got an idea if the conditions were good and therefore the meat was good. That's a big difference compared to going down to ICA or COOP. I'm not saying that the produce there is bad, but for me as a consumer it feels so much better to buy both locally and from the producer directly. I prefer to go out to farms in my local area and buy what is on offer for the season and then experiment with different combinations of vegetables, fruits, berries, honey, oils and meat products. It doesn't have to be so difficult to cook good and healthy food, as long as the ingredients are of high quality!

Thought of the day:

What is the simplest, tastiest and most nutritious food you cook on an everyday basis?
