I was just listening to a Ted Talk about how we humans develop and what is important in the early years of life. Several British studies show similar results, namely that it is important not to start life in poverty, because then you are more likely not to do well later in life. Furthermore, and even more importantly, all the studies show that parents play an extremely important role in the early years of a child's life. Whether you are poor or rich.
For me these results are so obvious! If you give your children a lot of love, security and support and show that you are interested in what is happening in their lives - every day, it will be good! As a parent, the more you talk to and listen to your child, the more you promote their future life. Who doesn't want to give their child the best possible opportunities? What parent doesn't want their child to feel good every day? A balanced child is not something you just get, it takes time, energy and requires some knowledge about how we as humans work.
The child follows its leader, just like any herd animal, and healthy parents are more likely to raise their children to a healthy lifestyle. And so the child gets off to a good start! I already wrote about this when I started up my website many years ago. A bit comical that it should take several studies to show this facts.
Thought of the day:
Are you giving your children enough quality time? Do you talk to each other, listen to what your child has to say, read books to your child, discover new things together?
